This book contains the names of hundreds of convicts, many children, some soldiers and naval men and their wives who died during the first five years of British Settlement in the Colony of New South Wales.
Most of these names will not appear in any other history book, as Census Records only record the names of the living at any particular time.
In the eyes of history, Convict, Soldier, Sailor, Free Man or Woman are all equal; each has played their part in the foundation history of Australia - Our Homeland.
The absolute number of these people who died during the first five years has staggered me. They were buried in a graveyard outside the perimeter of the tent lines in an area which now would roughly be in the vicinity of Gloucester Street, Sydney.
As nature quickly reclaims what is entrusted to her, no evidence of these hundreds of burials has ever been found. This volume is dedicated to the memory of those long forgotten Pioneers.

The William and Sovereign carried one convict each, I can find no record of these two names. No record can be found of what the Victualler carried, if any convicts. No records of the lists for the Buffalo, Porpoise, Minerva, or Friendship can be found, but part lists have been assembled from the names available in the 1828 Census.
We are indeed very lucky that the majority of the Convict Ship lists have survived the passage of nearly 200 years, and for this our Nation can be grateful to the dedicated staff of the Public Records Office of London, the Mitchell Library of N.S.W., the State Archives of N.S.W., the National Library of Australia, and the State Libraries and Archives of the various Australian States.
Some names have been difficult to transcribe, however, I have used all my logical knowledge of names to try and get the names correct.
Book 24 - 53 Pages
N.B. 18O1 - 18O5 Napoleon Bonaparte is busy crushing most of Europe, England cannot spare the warships to escort the Convict ships to protect them from the French Navy on the high seas. So not many Convict ships were able to sail during this period, but as soon as Napoleon is defeated, the number of Convict ships sailing from England to Australia will dramatically increase.

The names of the convicts recorded herein, in this five-year period, are very accurate records for that period - 1806 to 1810.
For some reason, the Prison Clerks of so long ago listed the names of the Ships Fortune and Alexander together, and also the Ships Admiral Gambier and Eolus, but because of the very good assistance I received with the original records, the transcribing has been very accurate.

UPDATE: It is believed that "The ship Emu in 1812 with 40 female convicts and crew was hijacked by American privateers during the voyage from England to the Colony of New South Wales. The women and crew were left on the sparsely populated Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. After help arrived, they were taken back to England and placed on board the ship Broxbornebury in 1814. With a total of 120 convicts on board, 70 crew, many free families and some well-to-do passengers, the ship set sail for Sydney."
